Commissariat á l’Énergie Atomique (CEA)

The French Commissariat á l’Énergie Atomique (CEA) is a key player in research, development, and innovation in four main areas: defense and security, low-carbon energies (nuclear and renewable energies), technological research for industry, and fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.

The Department of Research on Materials and Physical-Chemistry (DRMP) is in charge of studies on metallic alloys and non-fissile ceramics. Its theoretical and experimental research contributes to the development of knowledge in the field of nuclear materials science and engineering. Its work is instrumental in characterizing the properties of materials, evaluating their performance, and predicting their operating life, particularly by modeling. This work leads to laws and models of materials behavior in nominal operation, accident and long-term conditions, and provides input into the codes and standards essential to reactor designers and operators.
