Joint Research Centre (JRC)

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Karlsruhe, Germany, provides independent, evidence-based scientific knowledge, thereby supporting the European Union (EU) policies to positively impact society.

The mission of the JRC Directorate G for Nuclear Safety and Security is the implementation of the JRC Euratom Research & Training Programme, the JRC Nuclear Strategy, maintaining and disseminating nuclear competences in Europe to serve both “nuclear” and “non-nuclear” EU Member States. A strong cooperation and complementarity with the national organisations of the EU Member States is of key importance. JRC Directorate G supports the relevant policies of the Directorates-General (DGs) with independent, technical, and scientific evidence in the areas of nuclear safety, security, safeguards, and nuclear science applications. JRC Directorate G also ensures the JRC role as active key partner in nuclear international networks, actively collaborating with international organisations and prominent academic and research institutes.
